Location awareness

Location awareness

Location awareness, or more commonly "location-aware", is a general term used for something that can show that it is aware of its or the bearers current location. An example is a GPS. There are also certain websites that apply currently determined or predefined user locations, such as show what other users live nearby the current user.

In logistics of transporation and distribution location awareness describes the newly discovered paradigm, that identification and identifying of objects in itself, as with RFID, does not serve too much added value as long as not related to location and motion. But additional information about current location and direction of motion supports the required assessing the fulfilment of ordered tasks in logistics. Consequence of "location awareness" in development of concepts and targeting benefit increases with ability to assess locations on the move, as delivered with RTLS solutions.
