Trilj (In Italian "Treglia", in
Latin "Pons Tiluri") is a town in inlandDalmatia ,Croatia . It is located southeast ofSinj and northeast ofSplit . The total population of the municipality is 10,799, with 2,381 in Trilj itself and the rest in small villages, the most notable of which is Košute with 1,752 residents (census 2001).At the top of the hill of
Gardun , just 1 km south of Trilj, remains oflegionary fortress atTilurium can be found. Tilurium guarded the entrance to the Cetina valley from the south and the approach to the provincial capital atSalona .
