Béziers and the nearbyLanguedoc coastal resorts such asCap d'Agde . It is located 11.5 km (6.2 nm) east-southeast of Béziers, in theHérault departement. It handles commercial national flights as well as private, non-regular air traffic. The runway is equipped with ILS.The airport is situated centrally in the main tourist areas of Languedoc, but because of its comparatively short runway (1820m X 30m), was unable to benefit from the growth of low-cost flights that had fuelled expansion at other airports in the region (Carcassonne,
Perpignan , Montpellier and Nîmes). For some years there were plans to extend the runway and this work was finally carried out between November 2006 and February 2007. The result is a runway 2000m long and 45m wide, capable of handling theB737 -sized jets favoured by low cost carriers.Airlines and destinations
