For the American journalist, see Jane Akre; for the township, see Akra Township, Pembina County, North Dakota"Akre, meaning "dirt" in Assyrian) is a city in the Ninewa Governorate of Iraqi Kurdistan, 120 km from the Dahuk Governorate. The Kurdish film director, Hiner Saleem was born in this city. The Iraqi Ambassador to Vienna, Tariq Aqrawi is also from Akre, and Dr. Abdullah Saeed Abdullah D.G of D.O.H of Duhok lived in Aqrah. Akre is the administrative district of the same name, which is administered by the Kurdistan Autonomous Region.
