The campus offers baccalaureate and associate degrees and certificate programs taught by award-winning faculty. Penn State Brandywine offers the resources of an internationally renowned University in a smaller, more intimate setting. The campus is nestled on over 90 acres of beautiful grounds, 30 miles from Philadelphia and within a few hours of New York, Baltimore and Washington, DC. With nearly 60 nationalities represented on campus, Penn State Brandywine is rich in culture and diversity. Courses in international studies and study abroad opportunities enhance the learning experience and foster ties to the global community. On a local basis, community service is a strong value on campus, with a variety of service projects taking place year-round that involve students, faculty and staff. Penn State Brandywine offers a minor in Civic and Community Engagement that is found only here and at University Park – and percentage-wise, there are more students enrolled in this minor at Penn State Brandywine. Penn State Brandywine strongly supports undergraduate research, with numerous ways for students to be involved at every level, including attending conferences and presenting findings. In recognition of the campus' emphasis on freshmen and sophomore participation in research, in fall 2007 the regional Council for Undergraduate Research conference was held here, allowing the campus to showcase students' achievements and learn from other colleges and universities at the same time. The campus was honored with a prestigious national award for its landscaping: the 2007 Green Star Honor Award from the Professional Grounds Management Society. This award brings national recognition to the campus for "grounds maintained with a high degree of excellence" and only four other colleges and universities across the country were selected in this category.
Students enjoy the one-to-one relationships with faculty members, many of whom have been recognized nationally and internationally for their scholarship and teaching. With eight varsity athletics teams, club sports and intramurals, plus a variety of student clubs and organizations, there are many ways for students to get involved in campus life outside of the classroom.
