Islington is a station on the Bloor-Danforth line of the subway system in Toronto, Canada. It is located at 3286 Bloor Street West at Islington Avenue. It was opened in 1968 (in what was then the Borough of Etobicoke) as a terminal station, but the line has since been extended to Kipling station. A central platform serves trains running in both directions. Nearby landmarks include Islington Village and Mimico Creek. This is one of only two stations in the subway system where a track signal is publicly accessible. The signal is at the east end of the platform and guards the switches into the three-track section east of the station from the westbound platform.

Between this station and Royal York station to the east, the line exits the tunnel to cross Mimico Creek by bridge, and then returns underground.

Three park and ride lots serve Islington station:
*Main (Metropass required)
*Cordova (Metropass or cash payment)
*Lomond (cash payment)

Fare zones

Until 1973 the buses and the subway trains serving the station were in separate fare zones and so the turnstiles and collector booths were placed between the bus bays and the subway platforms. The station was reconfigured after the zones were abolished, and the fare barrier layout simplified in a later renovation.

Modernization

The TTC has plans to renovate this station. Part of the plan includes the demolition of the current bus terminal and constructing a new, wheelchair-accessible one on the north side of the station, giving the underground station with a more modern look and revitalizing its exterior.
