Biblical maximalism

Biblical maximalism

Biblical maximalism is a range of positions in Old Testament Studies that generally take the view that the Old Testament or Hebrew Bible is essentially based on history although presented through the religious viewpoint of its time. It is considered the opposite of Biblical Minimalism which are positions that treat most of the Old Testament as fable.

It should not be confused with Biblical innerrancy which is the view that the Bible is without error. Authors referred to as Biblical Maximalists typically hold positions which when carefully examined, are seen to propose various forms of interpretation of the scripture that are critical in some degree.
