Coombe Girls' School is an all-female secondary school and 6th Form Centre in New Malden, England.The school is a Specialist Language College, Leading Edge School and now a high performing Training School.
The Federation with Coombe Boys' School has ensured a mutually beneficial relationship for both schools, with pupils at each centre gaining new and innovative learning opportunities that are having a positive impact on results at each school.
Contents
History
Coombe Girls' School, formerly called Coombe County Secondary School for Girls, was established in 1955, and has remained an all girls school ever since. The school is linked with Coombe Boys and also with King's College Wimbledon.
Houses
The school sorts the pupils into house tutor groups. These are named after seven of the planets in the solar system:
- Venus
- Mercury
- Mars
- Jupiter
- Saturn
- Pluto
- Neptune
Each groups has a form tutor who will be with them for registration before school and before fifth period. This tutor will stay with their class, unless they leave the school, for the whole five years in which the girls are pupils of the school.
