"Aquilegia chrysantha" is a species of columbine known by the common name golden columbine. It is native to the southwestern United States from Utah to Texas and northwestern Mexico. This is a perennial herb growing an erect stem varying in maximum height from 30 centimeters to over a meter. The leaves are mostly basal and grow on long petioles. Each leaf is divided into three leaflets which are subdivided into three rounded lobes. The showy flower has five pointed yellow sepals each 2 to 3 centimeters long behind five shorter, rounded yellow petals. Each petal has a spur up to 6 centimeters long projecting backwards between the sepals. At the center of the flower are many whiskery yellow stamens.
